I have 2 labs one a 3 year old and the other a 16 week old pup.Over the last few years I have been using Nutro Beef exclusively, until a few months ago.I have had labs, goldens, shepherds, and pointers over the years, all of them had BAD BAD Gas,I always assumed it was just how they were,I tried different foods, and some were better than others but still had gas.I switched to Chicken Soup for The dog Lovers Soul,a few months ago because of a friends recommendation.good food but still had gas,so I heard about Taste of the Wild thru another friend, tried all 3 kinds, the Pacific, and wetlands didnt cure the gas, however the Prairie did!!!I also was told that labs need high protien food, this is the highest I've found,I never liked grains in their food and this is the ticket.I also read the ingredients in the (so rated top puppy food) and discovered that the Tatse of the Wild Prairie had 8% more protien, and better ingredients! I now feed both dogs the Prairie formula, and after a week, the gas was gone, and they are nonstop at playing and wrestleing,Its like having 2 puppies! I highly recommend this to anyone with Hunting dogs,as its the best Ive found and is reasonably priced!!! A++++ in my book!!!

It took a year and a half to find the one meal to please my one and a half year old lab. Since starting him on TOTW Prairie Canine, he no longer walks away from his food and I had tried everything! Not only is his mealtime pleasurable, there are no more problems with digestion, gas and pooping forever! Less poop, and a dog so happy and healthy!

This food is absolutely excellent! I have two Pit Bulls, one 7 months and the other about 12 weeks and I switched them from Authority because of the amount of fillers and grains as well as the fact that they had TERRIBLE gas and were constantly having to go outside (I got them the bison and venison version). I also like to support my local pet feed stores and was happy to find it at my local (Dotty's). Even on the first day, they "sorted out" the old food from this and tried to eat exclusively this! They absolutely love it and are ten times more playful even after only a few days with less need to go outside! I have yet to see the change in coat, but I'm sure I will see it based on all of these other reviews and I am very optimistic of the outcome. Though it is more expensive, my dogs also eat LESS now as well, so in time you will have a healthy dog for only a few pennies. Your dog should be worth it anyway! I HIGHLY recommend this food to anyone with either a working, sporting, or basically active larger dog! For the lil' guys, there may be too much protein, but there are other varieties available for those lil guys too :)

I went to the pet shop to look for a better dog food because he poop 5-6 times with the old food. The pet shop recommended TOTW pacific stream for my 4 months old cavalier. I tried the small pack and he responded very well to this food, he absolutely loves it. Now he only poop 2-3 times a day and they are almost odorless. His coat seems to be shinier too.

Although it is expensive my dogs love this food. Recently we had a very bad experience with their normal brand which was Beneful. I will never use that again

I've just started by 2 1/2 year old Boston Terrier and 6 month old English bulldog pup on the Pacific formula. It seems like a great food. I am switching from Orijen due to the high protein levels in that food. I think it was causing my bulldogs tear stains to be too intense. This food seemed like a great alternative and the protein levels are much lower. (Plus there is no dried beet root which I heard isn't that great for tear stains). My only problem is that I think I switched too quickly and now my pup has had severe diarhea for the last 3 days. I didn't feed her breakfast this morning but will probably give her a bit of food tonight - perhaps with a bit of rice. I'm hoping that she will eventually adapt to the food and the "runs" will stop. Has anyone else had a similar situation occur? Maybe switching from bison to salmon is just too much for her system to handle.
We are happy to hear that you have decided to try Taste of the Wild. Here are some food transition tips:When you switch foods, especially when the foods are very different, diarrhea can occur. Most vets will suggest a bland diet for a couple of daysto help the diarrhea resolve and then a gradual transition onto the foodfrom the bland diet. You can cook white rice and mix it with either cottagecheese, boiled chicken or boiled hamburger. If you normally feed 1 cup offood, you replace it with 1 cup of the bland mixture. Mix 2/3 cup white ricewith 1/3 cup of the other ingredient. You can also add probiotics or plainnonfat yogurt (one spoonful per 25 pounds body weight). If the diarrheapersists, or they start vomiting, you need to talk to your veterinarian. If the diarrhea is not too severe, you can cut the dog food amount in halfand make up the difference with the white rice, as you suggest. Add theprobiotics or yogurt too. Thanks,Taste of the Wild Pet Food

My two dogs a 6 yr old yellow lab and 1 -1/2 golden retriever have been on TOTW Pacific Trail for about two weeks with very good results. My golden has a lot of food allergies, corn, wheat, chicken and we are in the process of seeing if there is a lamb allergy. Both dogs have been on Orijen fish kibble for about 8 months which they eat in the morning and a raw diet which the protein is lamb and veggies at night. My golden has a severe ear condition which my vet has pretty muchcome to the conclusion that it is food related. I have spoken with an animal nutritionalist and sheadvised me to put the dogs on TOTW because it is excellent for dogs with food allergies. My goldenalso gets very hot and pants alot, which was another reason to use a fish protein because fish arecold blooded and this helps with dogs that get hot. I use a holistic philosophy in raising my dogsand I am very concerned about additives in my dogs food. I was very concerned about the recalls in the past about Diamond but after reading several posts on this site I feel reassured that the food is safe. I have been told by my vet that to determine if my golden is allergic to carrots and the lambthat I have to feed her the fish kibble only for six weeks, that also means that her treats also have to be her kibble. I have also noticed that since I changed from the Orijen that my dogs stool are not so soft and better formed. So the bottom line is right now I am very pleased with the productand also the fact that it is about $20.00 cheaper a bag!

We feed our husky TOTW (fowl) and she loves it! It's a miracle because I haven't been able to find her a food that she actually likes to eat. After doing so much research on food and what is bad-what is good, I think we finally found her something she will eat.One thing I wanted to ask was is it ok to mix them all together-the venison, fowl and salmon? We got her the salmon to see if she liked that and she won't eat it without it being mixed in with the fowl version. I just want to be sure it's ok to mix them up.Thank you TOTW for making such a great product that is affordable!

I cannot give this food a good rating until they address the ethoxyquin ingredient. Straight from Wikipedia: Ethoxyquin is a quinoline-based antioxidant used as a food preservative and a pesticide (under commercial names such as "Stop-Scald"). It is commonly used as a preservative in pet foods to prevent the rancidification of fats. There has been some speculation that ethoxyquin in pet foods might be responsible for multiple health problems. I am sorry but it is not a law to have that chemical in your food, it is a choice. And if Innova, Orijen, and Wellness can find another preservative, I believe this company needs to make the effort. I would love to add this food to my rotation, but I won't until this is fixed. No need to have a pesticide in a higher priced food.
Thank you for your concern regarding ethoxyquin. There is not any ethoxyquin added to the Taste of the Wild pet foods.Fish meal is preserved with ethoxyquin on the ships prior to entering port.Ethoxyquin is most effective at preventing rancidity in the highly volatilefish meal. Rancidity in ingredients can lead to severe illness. Fish mealis used in pet food formulas as an excellent quality source of amino acidsand omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3’s are vital for a strong immune system, healthy skin and coat, controlling inflammation and even preventing certain types of cancer. Most of the ethoxyquin is destroyed in the cooking process. Taste of the Wild products have been tested for ethoxyquin, and shown to be significantly lower than the level the FDA has set as being safe, with tests under 5 parts per million, or 5 ten thousandths of a percent, a level considered undetectable by many laboratory methods. There is a small supply of ethoxyquin free fish meal available in the UnitedStates. However, this is not adequate to meet the supply demands for all pet food manufacturers that use fish meal. Also, the peroxide levels are much higher than we feel comfortable with. Peroxide is an indicator of oxidation. Peroxide can cause vomiting and may even cause damage to vital organs. Ethoxyquin is being used in scientific research as a cancer fighting antioxidant. When present in controlled amounts, it has never been shown to cause harmful effects. We hope this clears up any misunderstandings regarding our ingredients and appreciate you voicing your concerns. We hope you will consider trying Taste of the Wild pet food.Taste of the Wild Pet Foods

This is just absolutely an excellent dog food. Dogs love it, look great and play like pups! I've had dogs for many years and used several different dog foods. For my dogs, this is the best!

I have two schnauzers, ones a mini and ones a standard. This foodhad too high a fat content over 15%. After a period of time my mini had panting and trouble digesting this food..he swoll up and developed edema and has developed high lipeds in his blood. My standard also was panting heavily after eatting this food found it very hard to digest. I tried the salmon and then the bison and venison. I would not give this food to my dogs ever again...I dont know if there is a preservative in it or it is justthe high fat content..but its NOT for us. I have spent almost $1000 on vet bills since they started on this kibble and I took them off of it and they are bothslowly improved. Its packaged real pretty but beward.

I am a dog rescuer and have an additional 5 dogs of my own including a 19you Brittany. I have watched their energy and play levels increase and a marked decrease in shedding and dander since switching. My 19yo is back to playing like she did 6 years ago; my vet has commented on it as have neighbors. She prances, jumps through the snow and gets paws down and rump up for play time! Great food. Clearly it has increased not only her energy but alleviated much of her hip and joint stiffness and pain. Particularly for older dogs I recommend the Salmon blend.

Tried Evo,Canide and Timberwoolf, but only Taste of the Wild cured my babie s sensitive stomach! Would recommend it to anyone that has sensitive dog, best food ever.

I was cooking for my rottie up until 6 months ago. As I work long hours and we don't always get the amount of walking done we should, both of us put on weight. a friend of mine said to try and switch her to kibble. I bought Innova EVO first since it was all meat. My rottie would eat it. but dropped most on the floor. Then I found Taste of the Wild on line ad went to tractor supple and bought it. She likes it and doesn't drop it all over the floor instead of eating it :) I love my dog and want nothing but the best for her which includes pet insurance thru VPI and now Tatse of the Wild!
TheTechnoLady 01/07/2010
Let me start off by saying this: a raw diet IS ideal for a canine companion, but not economical nor convenient for most people in the working class. Now that we have that out of the way - anyone who comes on here and gives Taste of the Wild one star just because YOU feed your dogs raw meat is not helping anyone and just makes you look like an idiot. I have been feeding Taste of the Wild to my dogs for the past 6 months. I buy all 3 formulas and give a different one every meal time. My dogs have never had digestive issues, their coats are shiny, and their skin is healthy; even my picky eater is excited to chow down no matter what the flavor of the day is! It is really the best food you can get for the price. Now, let me address a couple of topics people have mentioned on this forum...1. This whole preservative nonsense is just ridiculous. Have you read the ingredients labels on the food YOU eat? There are preservatives everywhere! Another poster has already shown the response from the Taste of the Wild staff explaining (and not denying) the the amount of ethoxyquin that exists in the pacific stream formula - it is practically non existent! COME ON PEOPLE! The FDA has approved the use of aspartame in diet sodas as a sweetener after 7 rejections! IT IS A DEADLY INGREDIENT! Yet we are all still alive. Interesting. So before ridiculing this food because you're an idiot, do some research. 2. Taste of the Wild brand and Diamond brand food is made by the same people. SO WHAT!? Natura makes Innova, Evo, and California Natural. Merrick has their original formulas, but also makes Before Grain. And Iams and Eukanuba are the same company. (Oh sorry, is this a holistic pet food forum exclusively?) Anyway, the point is Taste of the Wild is manufactured in a different plant than Diamond. The recall of Diamond should not scare anyone. Even our precious peanut butter has been recalled, but we still eat it now that it's OK again.I work at a pet supply store and have seen my share of unhealthy, overweight dogs. People come in all the time and buy the cheapest garbage food for their dogs full of corn (by the way, Science Diet is mostly corn and by-products - Veterinarian Recommended? Only because they SPONSOR those particular Vet offices - Tell everyone you know!!!). This shovel food causes a myriad of problems down the road, but all these people care about is cost. It happens everywhere. Anyone who is nit picking at the ingredients in one of the best, grain free, economically friendly, and holistic pet foods (yes I am talking about Taste of the Wild) is wasting their time. My Dogs couldn't be happier eating this food, and *WOAH!* I can afford it! Feed your dogs this food! You will not be disappointed! Though I must caution those who feed their dogs low grade foods like Kibbles n Bits or Beneful (and the like) - you might want to go to California Natural first, it is a great transition food into the holistics. Some dogs might react negatively to the high fibrous extracts and high protein content (from REAL MEAT) in the Taste of the Wild and might have some digestive upset but give it time. I'm proud to feed my dogs Taste of the Wild!

I've had my three dogs on ToTW for over a year now. They are all doing ok, two of them are doing great. I have a 7 lb Japanese chin who has chronic diarrhea. Not like he's sick, like it's just how his digestive system works. The vet says it's normal in some dogs just like some humans. That being said, he also has an allergy to grains. You would not believe the odor that a 7 lb dog can produce. You would think I had an enormous Saint Bernard or something...he can clear the room, seriously. His gas isn't as bad on ToTW. That's saying a lot, it's a huge improvement. All their coats are beautiful and they have energy to burn. I would love to totally eliminate the chin's diarhhea, but there might not be any food out there that won't affect him like that. I can afford ToTW and it suits our needs. I feed them the pacific salmon because you're supposed (?) to feed dogs foods that would have been fed in the region they originated.....Japanese chin has the touchy stomach, all the dogs get Asian inspired food :) They do love all the flavors though.

I have a 2 1/2 yr old pit bull and 10 year old vizsla. My pitt's stomach is very sensistive (explosive diarrhea not fun) and my vizsla has a lot of allergies that cause her to have skin infections and at least one ear infection a year. We recetly put our pitt in training and our trainer suggested taste of the wild for our vizsla. They have been eating this food for over a year and I havn't had to dish out money for an ear or skin infection yet! Our dogs love all of the flavors. On top of saving money on vet bills, my picky vizsla always eats her food when put down (my pitt has always been a healthy eater). The pet food store we by from even asks their customers who had dogs with skin issues to take before and after photos of their pets and submit them for future buyers. When I saw the pictures they already accumilated, we were sold. Now our vizsla's belly is in that collection and we applaud ToTW for their food and making our dogs, and wallets, a lot happier.

This is our second dog,and after doing lots of consultations and researches with our family vet,we have decided to introduce kibble in our dogs diet(that was only fed raw before that),cause we were no longer able to spend so much time every day preparing for him homemade raw food.We ve tried 3 brands, all grain free, and have to say TOTW won.We have great results now, after more than 6 months of feeding this combination. He is eating High Prarie and Wetlands(Paciffic Stream he didn t care for),and no changes in stool what so ever either raw or TOTW.Great dog food.

I have a mature Shiba Inu who has had minor but irritating issues with allergies and a sensitive digestive system. A friend suggested Taste of the Wild dry food. I've tried all flavors but she really loves the bison and the foul. She's not big on the salmon product. She LOVED it from the first time I offered it to her. She's a very finicky eater but she "wolfed" it down! She has had NO gas (unless someone has slipped her some people food... and then she might) and her allergies have all but disappeared. This food has been a little miracle for my furry daughter. It has made both of us very happy. Thank you Taste of the Wild!!! You are the best!!
MyBabies 12/30/2009
Taste of the Wild is fantastic! I could not be more pleased with how both of my dogs have responded to this food. We used to feed our dogs Purina Pro Plan. We thought we were giving our dog the next best thing compared to cooking for them. Needless to say we were very ignorant. Upon doing some research, I learned I was feeding my dogs garbage and all of the food sold for dogs in the grocery store was garbage. I learned that dogs should not be eating grains of any kind and is a major cause of allergies and shedding. Since switching over to Taste of the Wild. Completely grain free food w/4 of the 5 first ingredients being protein sources (not meat byproducts)....Our girls have shinier coats, more energy, less shedding and smaller poop. They also seem to be a lot more affectionate....didn't think they could get anymore loving but I was wrong....We have a Black Lab and a little Jack Russell Terrorist and both love this food!!!

I can only say I agree 100% with TechnoLady, and have same great experience with TOW!!

Wanted to try a non-grain food for our Golden since she has a problem with allergies. Taste of the Wild is not the one for her. Three days after starting (poultry) she developed wicked gas and then diarrhea. Seems this is somewhat common based on a Google search of similar complaints.

My 4-year old lab was switched to Taste of the Wild Bison dry food for a couple of days when I ran out of his Nature's Recipe food. He became very, very ill after two days worth of feedings. After several hundreds of dollars in vet bills we found out that he is allergic to something in the food. After going back on Nature's Recipe he returned to his old self.

Really great grain free food especially for those on a tight budget.

I use to feed my sport dog (schutzhund sport) Natural Balance. He had an ear infection and after educating myself on what grains can do to the dogs system I came upon TOTW. I feed him the Prairie formula. Well, after a couple of weeks the ear infection went away. Mind you, this was before numerous trips to the vet and meds. Nothing was working. But, after feeding TOTW he has not had any ear infections. This is for the last 4 years. He is 5. So, the first year of his life was problems and the last 4 years a healthy, well muscled dog. Not to mention his coat is fantastic. I contribute his health to the non grain formula. For him this is the food and will not switch. Also, his teeth are super clean. Eye sight is extrodinary, but that could be from his addiction to carrots. I spend a fortune on carrots.
miinganharmony 12/14/2009
I was feeding Kirkland Chicken and Rice to my pup and thought he was doing well on it. As I started training and showing him in flyball, agility, and dock diving, all high-impact sports, I decided a little more protien wouldn't hurt. Taste of the Wild is the best food available in that price range. He has totally blossomed on it. More energy, his coat is lovely, nice small poops. He also used to get ear infections all of the time, which I thought was caused by the water (in the summer he swims in a lake at least once a week, but I always wash his ears out). His ear infections have completely disappeared on Taste of the Wild. I've only had him on the Wetlands variety (he was on a poultry-based food before and I wanted to transition to a similar meat source) but the next bag is the Pacific Stream. I'm going to rotate each bag with a new formula. We are exceedingly happy with Taste of the Wild and will always recommend it. Yes, it's made by Diamond, but I've never had a problem with it and I've never heard anyone having a problem with it, so I'm not going to get all supersticious now. We also have our cats on the feline formula and they've done a 180 change. Their coats are beautiful, they've all lost weight. We couldn't recommend this brand highly enough.
sf09 12/12/2009
I have self admittedly, over-educated myself on dog foods and now I don't want to feed my dog anything! The raw food thing is not convenient for us, and were feeding natural balance which seems to have too many grains. My puppy had a terrible reaction to one brand of canned food, so I won't let him touch the stuff. After going to a local pet food boutique in my area, I decided to try the Wetlands formula per the recommendation of the store owner. My puppy loves it, and with a very gradual transition is doing great. Helped with gas and itching, almost immediately, and he is lean with great muscle tone! However, we have noticed that the Prairie formula gives our pup horrific gas for some reason, so we'll stick to the Wetlands and Pacific Stream. This is the most reasonably priced, 6 star rated dog food on the dog food analysis website. It also has slightly lower protein than some of the other grain-free foods, which may be better for my small breed pup. Plus, if you look at the reviews here, I believe this food has the highest score I have seen. Very promising choice! We love it.

My oldest baby had a problem,he had diarrhea for 3 months, and vets didn t know what to do.he changed the diest for us,but nothing worked, than he told me to try Taste of the Wild!! It was great choice!!We are feeding him 6 months now with it,and he id doing perfect on it,his stools are firm and perfect, and he looks like 5 years old although he is 8.Now I have 4 more dogs, and I can not affort TOW to all of them,so they are on Naturals, also great kibble, but I know Taste of the Wild is better.
ZeldasDad 12/08/2009
I feed this to my Basset, she's entering adulthood, and she absolutly loves it! I take her to the dog park and I get lots of compliments on her because she is very muscly and lean, everyone points at her muscles as they ripple thru her skin LOLAs a Puppy I fed her IAMS ProActive Smart Puppy formula, weened her off with Taste of the Wild. She's a very brilliant dog, as she takes direction very well. for those of you unfamiliar with Basset Hounds, they are super stubborn and dont like to obey, but I think I stumbled onto something great!

This is great dog food, and yes,Lexi Pooh,I had just the situation you are talking about, for years I ve been trying to find what suits best to my oldest dog,a labmix Roxanne, she had problems with almost everything we ve tried, even raw beef sometimes gives her runny stools, but than I ve noticed, when she eats raw fish, these problems don t seem to appear,so after High Prairie, that we were using for months,I ve left two of my younger dogs on it,but switched Roxanne to TOW paciffic stream, boy did it went well!!She looks perfect and better than ever, her stool is so firm, and no anal gland problem what so ever. Her hair is gorgeous, and I can say this is the best food I ve ever tried(and I did try many of the great food,Orijen,Wellnes,Timberwolf). And yes it is made by Diamond, but after all the recalls, and some companies keeping their mouth shut,I feel really confident feeding Diamond food, they were honest about it,and yes, mistakes happen,it doesn t make me feel or think lees of them,as matter affects,I have pretty high opinion on them, regarding that. This is definitely the best food for us,and we are sticking with it,would recomment it to anyone, perfect!!

My three year old shepard was diagnosed with a digestive enzyme problem and placed on expensive medication "Viokase". I have spent over $3,000 in the past 42 months. The Salmon Teste of the Wild product has eliminated the need for the viokase. If anyone has a dog/cat with this problem I suggest trying this style food before you waste your money on viokase.

Taste of the Wild (Roasted Bison) has been the perfect food for my male Boxer. There are a handful of other premium foods that seem to work well, but Taste of the Wild is consistantly palitable. He seems to love the taste. Also, gas, which can be eye-watering from foods like Canidae, is very minimal with TOTW. Stool is firm, so he seems to be digesting it well.

I would like to know if anyone has had major allergy reactions to certain dog food but after trying TOWPacific, thier dog has gotten better? I have a beautiful 100lb girl lab and I've had dogs before and have never gone through allergies with them but my girl now has sneezing attacks scratching on the side and bumps on her belly...:( I am concern with her but has anyone gone through this, feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Our 11 year old golden retriever was on Natural Balance Duck and Potato and doing quite well for a long time. Then they changed the formula with no sticker on the bag (on all their varieties) and she became sick with diarrhea. We then tried Blue Buffalo and had similar results. Then we tried Taste of the Wild and she has been diarrhea-free. She loves the Wetlands Canine Formula with Roasted Fowl. We highly recommend it!

My wolf-dog mix was days away from kidney failure - even though I fed her "high-quality" expensive foods like Nutro. I switched to Natural Balance, which worked, but it's very costly. Then one day I came across Taste of the Wild. Wow! What an amazing dog food - at any price! Needless to say, she is now thriving. At ten years old she still has the energy of a puppy, and no health problems of any kind.I feed the High Prairie formula - she doesn't like the Salmon - but I do add fish oil two or three time's a week. Also, I use the kibble, so I make sure to add plenty of water and let it soak a bit. And, I add 1/4 pound of fresh meat - ground turkey, pork, etc. She loves it, and like I said, no health problems of any kind.I convinced a friend to feed his 11 year old black lab the Salmon formula. She was barely able to walk and had vision problems. Now, she's running and taking long walks again, and her vision has improved.I can't say enough - I wish everyone would feed their puppies and dogs this wonderful food!

My dogs were on Nutra Gold,Orijen and Wellnes, but since they are both neutered we decided to try to find lover protein diets,so we switched to Paciffic Stream and Blue Bufalo.Great decision. They are doing great, look better than every ,and stool is just perfect.Great dog food.

we have tried the wetlands formula and my 3 mo old lab loves it. (even my cat loves it!) my 1 yr old terrier eats it a little slower, however. we switched from benniful which was giving my dogs a raw bottom and loose stools. the TotW food cleared it up. they had some mild constipation for a couple days bit their bottoms are healthy and so is thier stool after two weeks of using it. my dogs have tons more energy (too much for me!) and they put on a healthy layer of fat for winter. they were looking kind of skiny on benniful. my only complaint is that they have very bad gas. even the dogs leave the room for fresh air and i'm not exaturating! i'm going to try the wild game and see if that will stop or at least lessen the gas problem.i'm just updating my review. we tried the high prarie formula and my dogs (or cat) won't touch it unless there is pumpkin AND plain yougart on it. not sure why...just diferent i guess.

I was hestitant to try this yet because I thought it might be too rich for my little girl yet. However they were out of the can of food I wanted so I grabbed a can of the prairie. This morning I mixed in about a tablespoon with her dry food and let me tell you she ate every bit of it and left her dry food. She did of course come back an hour and a half later and eat the rest. She hasn't had any ill effects, though I will update as we use this more. I went back today and bought a can of the wetlands also to try next week. It usually takes about a week for her to finish a can. The only thing that did surprise me is I expected it to be the usual mix of mush like most dog foods, but it's nice little chunks with gravy and I can see some vegetables like peas. I can only assume the rest of the ingredients are formed into these chunks since it says there's way more than what I see in there. Overall I think this is the one Emma has been most enthusiastic about yet, Merrick better watch out as that's been her favorite up to now. I think I've found another keeper for our rotation. I will be keeping her on the Innova puppy dry for at least a couple more months but when she's older I will definitly consider trying their dry in rotation, also. This dog will certainly never get bored of her food!

I'm writing this review because I know how frustrating it could be when your new puppy has bad diarrhea.I have 5 months old French Bulldog that I got from a breeder about 3 months ago. From the beginning he had really mushy and loose stools. Slowly we changed his dry food from Eukanuba to California Natural but there was no improvement. Chicken and rice diet, Pumpkin, Yogurt, and probiotics....nothing worked. It was getting worse and worse and finally he was dripping fresh blood from his bottom. We took him to a vet and got all kinds of exams including fecal (Cocci,Giardia, parasites) but they found nothing. The vet prescribed me some Anti-diarrhea pills, Antibiotics, and Science Diet I/d canned food. I never ever wanted to give him Science Diet but it was our last choice and vet's advice...I gave it a try.I saw no improvement on first day but second day he will just sleep all day and did noteven touch the food. By the third day, he was vomiting and diarrhea every 30 minutes. That's it. I researched and researched and narrowed the foods down to this Taste of the Wild brand. I read some good reviews regarding dogs with digestion problem. I bought a bag from a local pet store and gave him a cup right away..(I did not mix it with the old food because he was having bad diarrhea anyway..)Exactly three hours later, not three days...3 HOURS!! His stool was back to normal.3 weeks of chronic bloody diarrhea....stopped 3 hours after he ate brand new diet.I could not belive...and still cannot belive how easy it could have been. All the vet bills, 3 weeks of emotional stress, cleaning up the watery mess, most importantly my pup's pain....everything is now history. Maybe he was allergic to grain? I don't know...(We tried feeding him chicken only too)I just wanted to share my story with some pet owners who might experiencing same situation that I had. Maybe there are cheaper and better foods for some dogs but I'm going to stick with this one for a while since it saved my little one.

After months of trying other top foods my two lab mix dogs are finally rid of their issues. One had dry skin due to allergies to several foods - grains, chicken, eggs and who knows what else. My other lab mix had digestive issues - did not digest her food - big, long poops. As a result of not retaining her food she also had 2 seizures. For both the vet recommended we switch their food ....and are we happy we found this - they eat the salmon formula. After just a short period of time on their new food, lab 1 has shiny, soft black hair while lab 2 now has small poops. They LOVE their food. Believe me, they had been on other pricey brands - five different ones - over the last 3 years, and this is the only one that has helped both of them out. I f you are frustrated with other dog foods - please try this one. It has worked miracles for both of our babies - !!!!

After using some other Diamond brands, we decided to try TOTW. We have been more than pleased with this product. This truly is the top of the line. This food can be matched against any other out there in any aspect EXCEPT price....just about 3/4 the price of the comparable other Brands. They also make complimentary canned formulas to go with the dry. This one will stay in the rotation for sure!!!

I am trying the TOTW Pacific Stream Salmon on my Aussie/Heeler. She loves it. I am currently using the rotation diet- one month Innova chicken , one month TOTW Salmon, one month Evo red meat large bites. After reading the comment on the ethoxyquin used in the salmon in TOTW I emailed them and this is the reply:Thank you for your inquiry.Taste of the Wild Pet Foods does not add ethoxyquin to any of the formulas. Fish meal is required by law to be preserved with ethoxyquin. Ethoxyquin is most effective at preventing rancidity in the highly volatile fish meal. Rancidity in ingredients can lead to severe illness. Most of the ethoxyquin is destroyed in the cooking process, requiring other preservatives to be used. Tests for ethoxyquin are run routinely on Taste of the Wild products. The results are typically less than 5ppm. The amount allowed, and considered to be safe, by the FDA is 75ppm.Fish meal is an important ingredient that provides quality amino acids and omega-3 fatty acids. These nutrients are important for all aspects of a healthy life, including great skin and coat, control of inflammation and a strong immune system.Sincerely,Dr. Brookshire--Melissa Brookshire, DVM So after this email you can make up your own mind if this is too much ethoxyquin for your dog. My aussie is 3, full of energy, bright eyes, bright white teeth, lots of energy so she runs with me every day, great smelling breath despite the fish. I Couldn't ask for more. I find this rotation diet good, only thing better would probably be for me to cook for her and currently thats not an option. She has very minimal stools twice a day. Another thing: she seems to know when she is getting the TOTW because she starts dancing on her back legs, and does not do that for the Evo nor the Innova.

After loosing our beloving pet due to problems related to digestion,we have been feeding our other dog only RAW,than I got pregnant and had no more time for all that,we decided to try some of best kibbles on the market,on Orijen, let s just say he didn t do well, didn t do well at all, than we ve tried Innova, and it seemed to work for a month, but than his fur got all dull, and his stool was never ok,than our vet advised us to try TOW,so we have been on this diet for almost a year now,and I can say only we are 100% sattisfied with absolutely everything. This is really the best food ever.

We have a one year Old English Mastiff. At 160#s, she is still a very "fussy" eater. I understand the mind set of a raw diet and I appreciate the people who take the time to prepare that for their animals. However, with TOTW added to our raw food, our Soleil cannot get enough. With the other grain free dry foods, what she dropped on the floor...remained there. Not with TOTW. I believe it to be the best food for the money and totally agree with the other posts...her fur is shiny, her teeth and breath are always fresh and she has the energy to run at 15 miles an hour all day long. Plus...her poo smells like warm biscuits...and believe me, you do not want a Mastiff's poo to smell rank.

My dog loves the 3 flavors. Excellent ingredients, with very limited fillers. No problems with gas, runny stools as of yet. I would recommend this food easily. Also, this food is very economical.

Reviewing Taste of the Wild Wetlands dry dog food:Taste of the Wild (or TOTW, as it's called in pet food circles) is another of the current crop of high protein, low carbohydrate, grain free foods. Diamond's TOTW is probably the lowest quality of the bunch, comparing to brands like Innova EVO, Wellness CORE, Orijen, Acana, Prairie Instincts, and others. Still a good food, but there are plenty of other options for this type of diet. The only real attraction of this food is that TOTW, like all Diamond products, is quite a bit cheaper than some of it's competitors. However, you get what you pay for... and with this food, you pay less money, you get less nutrition.
