I'm a little confused here. The list title is "Ways to MOLLIFY the Illegal Immigration Problem." Now given that mollify means soften, appease or temper, I wonder if the listmaker has chosen the right word for his intentions. Further, if he has, harsher penalties seem unlikely to "soften, appease or temper" the problem.

The only penalty should be consistent deportation, regardless of how many times they come in. Why should we imprison them, give them food, shelter and medical services on our tax dollars? They should have no legal recourse, again on our tax dollars. How could they? They crime (violating the national sovereignty of the U.S.A. ) is already incriminating enough as to not even waste any time and money other than straightforward deportation. ----- Yes, I am a Christian and because of that, I do not endorse illegal or criminal behavior.

How would we make penalties harsher, might I ask, without infringing upon their rights under international law? Mind you I do not count them as possessing rights under our own, since they are not citizens, and thereby not granted the rights of a citizen. They still have rights under international agreements and under the laws of their originating country.

Well, if only our police officers would check their status to find whether or not they are illegal, it would help tremendously. But they WON'T! They say they do not work for the ICE, the INS, or Homeland Security. Well, whom DO they work for? Certainly not US!

If this idea were put into reality and enforced, it would go a long way toward helping the problem.
