The Korean War Memorial is far less known than the Vietnam Memorial but in my eyes, as someone who was in neither war, the Korean Memorial was far more spectacular. The memorial consists of a field of about 30 soldiers carrying their equipment and wearing their long winter coats while having an array of facial expressions, ranging from frightened to surprised. You have to visit this memorial at night because the lighting was done so as to accent the facial expressions and it is almost a frightening experience. The soldiers almost look like ghosts in the night and this is an experience that no one should miss.

It's new on the block, but the best was saved for last. The statues of the soldiers are haunting and respectful. Go while the lights are on and experience the chilling effect of the shadows on the statues. I was also impressed how the memorial pays tribute to all the nations involved in the Korean War. The memorial is impressive and a must-see.

Carefully look at the expressions on the statues of the men crossing over the field. It just put a lump in my throat.

Somewhere out there. There is a mom who had a son whose son probably might've taken prisioner or didn't come back at all. Any War memorial place is good, you can find out who served and didn't come back. And my grandpa served in the war and frankly was able to come back alive. Because he didn't have to go at all.

I have an uncle that served in Korea, but he was never in combat. (He fixed airplanes.) I was very impressed by the wall of faces, and the fountain was quiet and reflective, even on a brilliant sunny day with wall to wall people. The only thing preventing a 5 from me is the low wall that borders the entrance. Meant as a tribute to the 15 nations that fought with us in Korea, it's just low enough and is tipped at the right angle that people were using it as a bench. I found that quite disrespectful.

A fitting memorial for all the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Korean conflict (both U.S. and U.N. troops). The engravement of the phrase: "Freedom is not free" makes you remember that indeed, the preservation of freedom and liberty requires the sacrificing of lives. The pictures of random soldiers on the wall is also very surreal. It brings to you a sense of closeness- you will never know these people who are pictured on this wall, but you admire and respect them for risking their lives for the preservation of freedom.

Very well done. The soldiers crossing the field makes a very graphic display.

Very well done and rightly pays tribute to soldiers from all the UN forces not just the US.

This memorial has an eerie feeeling to it. You first notice the life size statues of the platoon walking in formation. Behind them is a wall with faces, taken from actual pictures, of servicemen and women in a host of activities. You can spend hours walking up and down the wall looking at all these faces/memories.
