An incredible story about a young polish jew who fled the holocaust, came to America and after bouncing around became one of the major builders of the San Francisco rock scene in the 60's and ultimately one of the greatest behind-the-scenes influences on the music of the boomer generation. His story covers the events that lead to the Haight-Ashbury centred Summer of Love and the morphing of rock and roll into big business. He took the fledgling music form from small theatres like the Filmore and Winterland in his home of San Francisco to pioneering Stadium tours for acts like Crosby Stills Nash and Young, The Stones, and Dylan and the Band. The acts that he presented in their infancy include the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, Santana, Love and on and on. He was the last guy to present the Sex Pistols before Sid Viscous imploded. Graham is a great story teller and the book is a great read.
