The problem I have with capitalism today has as much to do with its absence as its presence. The good side of capitalism can flourish only in an entrepreneurial society, and we don't have that anymore. Instead we have large corporations remaking the world in their image, crushing competition at every step, whether in Iraq with their reliance on no-bid contracts or in America with their destruction of independent business. Even an indie entrepreneur's idea of success today is to be bought out by a big company. Capitalism does much to promote human freedom, but in its current state it makes even the excesses of the Gilded Age seem normal.
