 | CleverElsie (12) 11/09/2007 | A truly isolationist government is not only economically
protectionist but has a policy of non-interventionism in the affairs of
others. Practiced relatively successfully by China for many
years, isolationism can be very compatible with peaceful,
noninflammatory relations with other countries. The problem that
can arise is that an isolationist nation in a global community risks
alienating the rest of the world's population. In and of itself,
though, it's unlikely to start any world wars.
