contracted, anthrax is an extremely unpleasant illness no matter which
way you cut it. Pulmonary anthrax has a mortality rate of almost
100% and quickly progresses from flu-like symptoms to respiratory
failure. Gastroenteric anthrax causes severe vomiting and
diarrhea and kills anywhere from a quarter to three-quarters of those
it infects. A rarer form, which infects the skin, isn't usually
fatal but causes hideous lesions.
