Despite the fact that most of the color episodes stink, Andy should be #1. This is the only show that can boast the fact that it has never been off the air for 49 years.
(For you lefties out there who whine that there were no black characters...49 years is almost a half century)

Obviously one of the best in his day, and there are some episodes of the Andy Griffith Show that are still good today, but overall I think the show doesn't really hold up that well anymore, and Matlock was OK at best. But I just can't rank him above Bill Cosby, and unfortunately, I think I'd have to rank Homer Simpson higher as well.

how is andy #19? today's comics should take notes of how to be funny minus vulgarity.

Timeless...To be enjoyed by all ages for many years to come.
