Ok, but not as fun as Lois & Clark.

Smallville is a fun, campy, thoughtful, and sometimes brooding show that has put its own stamp on the Superboy mythology. The series sensitively chronicles Clark Kent's evolution from awkward teenager with a propensity for lifting tractors and blowing barns down to confident young superhero with a mission. While most other depictions of Superman struggle to portray his human side, Smallville's Clark Kent is a conflicted young man still coming to terms with his abilities and the delicate balance between his personal life and his role as savior of the world. Smallville is also the first show to flesh out the Lex Luthor character and give him a human face as well as the first to detail Clark's youthful romance with Lana Lang. We also get a peak into Lois Lane's early days as a cub reporter. Unfortunately, the otherwise creative story arcs of this show are marred by many filler episodes about villains-of -the-week, most of whom are laypeople who have been infected by kryptonite. There are also complaints of bad acting and of melodramatic plots that drag on too long such as the interminable will-they-won't-they of Clark and Lana. A show with a fantastic concept that has been okay or a little better than average in execution.
