I took the CalTrain once to pick up my car when I bought it in San Jose. I thought it was pretty great. It picked me up from the station in Burlingame and took me right to San Jose! It was around $6.00 each way. But the ride was smooth and comfy actually!

Generally reliable and on time.  The trains are pretty cool (with the mezzanine floors).  Kind of expensive.  Also, it's pretty slow.

I certainly appreciate where Caltrain is situated. It is common sense to have it intersect cities near the downtown areas. The service can't be beat and I like the frequency of the trains.

I love Caltrain.  I love how there's a quiet station in an out of the way residential neighborhood in Potrero Hill where there's always street parking.  I love how clean the trains are and how professional the employees are.  There's a nice vibe on the trains - it's almost entirely professionals, and you don't get nearly the sketchiness that you see on Bart. The Friday evening trains are especially fun - lots of folks having happy hour, or people trekking into the city for a night on the town.

It sure beats sitting in traffic on 101.
