If Karl had been healthy for the 2004 NBA Finals, the Lakers probably would've won the series or at least been a whole lot more competive...I was excited when the Lakers signed him despite his age as the team filled its perenial weakeness of power forward...however was injured in regular season in game against Phoenix and was limited to just 42 games...also showed how team-oriented was by signing for One Million Dollars (small by NBA standars) and not worrying about his chance of surpassing Kareem as highest scorer in league, a mark he had a definite chance of passing had he stayed with Jazz or signed with other team....encouraged Lakers front office to sign Vlade Divac for 2004-05 season....had good relationship with Kobe Bryant and might have re-joined Lakers for 2004-05 season but had misunderstanding Vanessa Bryant during early part of season, which led to ugly verbal confrontation with Kobe which chased him out of organization...I would defintely rate him higher had he played more then one season with the Lakers or if he had joined the team when he was younger

I choose to pretend that Karl Malone's season as a Laker never happened. It really tarnishes the carreer of one of the greatest power forwards of all time.
