Certainly one of the most feared hitters of the 70s and 80s- skills went fast past 35- deserves to be in the Hall.

Phenomenally strong player (I saw him snap his bat on a checked swing on two separate occasions) who could tear the head of a third baseman with a line drive.
Never fast, by the end of his career he was positively glacial, and he was never more than average defensively.
Had phenomenal years at the plate in the mid-seventies, and a rebirth of sorts in the mid-eighties. Considering the total package he is probably the third or fourth best left-fielder in Sox history, behind Williams and Yaz and similar to Ramirez (although a far better fielder and way less of a headcase, but an inferior hitter).
Has reasonable Hall of Fame calibre stats, but hasn't made it in so far, and its looking increasingly likely that he'll be left out.

wish he had one or two more good years, then there would be no question about HOF.
