Stratosphere Tower 4

I didn't do any of the rides on top of Stratosphere Tower, but the views can't be beat. It is a long elevator up to the top and your ears will pop, but you get a 360 degree view of Vegas. The strip can be seen in its entirety, and the mountain ranges that surround Vegas provide a stunning backdrop!

Its been a long time since I shouted or uncontrollably exclaimed something out of my mouth while on an amusement park ride. This was the that one time in a long time. Out of the 3 rides (which were all scary in their own right), the one that shoots you up on the pole of the tower and lets you drop back down is probably the scarier of the three - Since it starts out high (on the tower's rooftop), then goes even higher (to the top of the pole on the tower)

Should be the first stop for first-timers in Vegas. Sort of a divey version of Seattle's Space Needle, this 120 or so story tower has a great view of the Vegas strip and mountains. There are a few rides, sort of like free falls on the top of the tower that drop you down a story or so. You can also pay about $12 and just take an elevator ride to the dop and hang out outside, taking in the view. I would recommend saying that you are going to the lounge and having a drink. You can chill in the lounge and then walk around on the rooftop without paying the elevator fee. Actually, they say there is a 1-drink minimum, but no one is monitoring this so you can actually skip the drink and just head out to the rooftop.

I'm not sure how safe this structure is. The elevator vibrated roughly the entire ride up, and it stopped in the middle. The restaurant at the top felt a little wobbly. But the view was great. Restaurant was pricey, so just get drinks there. And if you can ride those rides at the top, you've got a heart of stone.

The Stratosphere Tower is said to be the tallest standing building west of the Mississippi, so in that respect it certainly is impressive. Wonderful view of the strip, particularly at sunset. But it loses stars due to the tedious, winding trail one must endure to finally reach the top. The Stratosphere has designed the route so as customers must walk by every possible store, restaurant and vender on their way both up and down, presumably so they'll stop and spend cash all along the way. This wouldn't be so annoying if gaining entrance to the Tower itself was free - though of course it is not! A bit of a grind just getting up there, but worthy of a one time visit.

This place is a dump. The roller coaster on top was fun for giggles sake but other than that don't waste your time.

The tower is great but the rest seems rather tacky. I did win $1500 at the slot machine. I guess I should give it 5 stars.

Stratosphere added some additional charges to our account though we specially checked the box on the registration when checked in that we would not be using their resort. It was really surprising to see how they are trying to rip off people by charging to their accountsfor no reasons.

BEWARE, THEY STEAL IN THE VALET PARKING That's what happen to us this February 2004. In short, this is what happen to us. When we got to the casino we decided to leave the car at their valet parking while we went to register. Then we went up to the room (which the electronic entrance card DID NOT work) to relax. Then came back to pick up the car. But, to our surprise our car was vandalized, things were stolen from inside the car and the truck. Worse yet, the theft was perpetuated by the employees of the valet parking. Why I say this? Because there were not broken windows and the doors were locked. They stole from us several things: a TV/Radio/CD Player combo, music CDs, sunglasses, prescription eyeglasses and a digital camera. All these were not left for people to see. They wore hidden in the car and back in the trunk. Looking back, I regret the decision not to take EVERYTHING from the car to the room. Right there, when we got the car we complain to the valet parking people, to the hotel security, and to the hotel's Director of Risk Management (supposedly he was going to take care of it). But, their answer was: the casino is not liable for theft unless the car is vandalized, i.e., broken windows and that there are no video cameras at the valet parking lot (yeah sure, every where else there are cameras but not here, how convenient). So they cannot do a thing. SO, DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL, IT'S NOT WORTH IT.

If you have time, go to the top of the Stratosphere at night. The view is unbelievably gorgeous, with all the lights on the strip. I haven't been on the Big Shot (I was too scared!) but I heard it's fun.

The Stratosphere is not on the strip so you will have to take a cab to get there if you are staying on the strip. The cab ride from our hotel(Bellagio)to the Tower was $14.00. The cost to go up to the tower was $12.00 per person so it is a little costly;even hotel guests must pay to go to the top. If you are at all afraid of heights-dont't go to the top! The restaraunt offers a fantastic view of Las Vegas, we would suggest going at night. When you are at the top the windows are curved and there is nothing underneath you since the tower is round so it is a little nervewracking, but it is fun to walk around and look through the telescopes and see ALL of Las Vegas. The casino itself wasn't all that great and it is a LONG walk to get to the line to go up to the tower itself. If you go onto the observation deck of the tower be prepared for high winds (it was 40mph when we were there)and we were told that the rides close often due to the winds so be prepared for that as well. Overall a good sight to see but there are better.

An awesome view, but there's really not to much to DO once you look around a bit. Kind of not worth the money.. especially for kids, who want something more than just a nice view!

The hotel and tower themselves aren't very interesting, and would rank near the bottom of Las Vegas attractions if not for the view. Wow! I recommend dinner at the restaurant at the top. It's expensive, but the food is good, and the view is spectacular!

Great view. You must ride the Big Shot, if only to make up for that lame excuse for a roller coaster. Like a kiddy ride, but really high.

I visited Las Vegas for the first time in October of 2000... I had a blast! The Stratosphere Tower was one of the highlights! People kept telling me before I went that I should go try the rides at the top of the 1000-foot tall tower... so I did. I rode the "Big Shot." It zips you straight up into the air and leaves your dangling for a few seconds over a thousand feet above the ground. I did it at 9:00p.m., and all I could see for miles around were the lights of the city. It was truly breathtaking... in more ways than one!!!
