Eggnog 5

Eggnog can be very tasty and it's too rich to enjoy in warmer weather- so it's perfect for the winter holidays.

So here I sit on this Christmas Eve with a cup of slightly altered nog... we just got back from a holiday gathering where Remus made the scene and got a shit ton of attention for being the cutest fucking puppy in the history of ever. We also scored some booze and a wok set in our gift exchange and I got a kick ass camo hoodie from the lady's parents. All in all, my holiday is going well. Peppermint schnapps in the nog, if you were wondering...

I've never drank eggnog before but I hear that it's pretty good. I plan to buy some this Christmas. But I'll have to get the non alcoholic kind. I can't drink an alcoholic drink because it might kill me because of the medications that I take.

If you can buy a real quality egg nog without all the common commercial additives and use rum or brandy (or both) they can be a fine Christmas libation. Go easy though, just one or two as it is a very rich concoction. Try grating a bit of fresh nutmeg on top.

Southern Comfort makes the best I ever had, but, I can do without the alcohol.

I even like Eggnog without the alcohol, although I don't like it well enough to go out and buy it for myself. For a few years awhile back, I would go out around Christmastime and buy a bottle of "Mr. Boston" (commercially-produced Eggnog with alcohol) at the local liquor store. Unfortunately, you had to go at the right time and have some luck, as they sold out quick. And now that I've reached a stage in my life where I've reduced my drinking to practically nothing, I don't really have the desire to go out and try to score "Mr. Boston" anymore. Still, if someone offers it to me at a party...

Eggnog is absolutely the best Christmas drink. It makes my mouth water just to think of it!

Eggnog conjures up fond holiday associations of nutmeg and cinnamon, but once you start sipping it you realize that you just made the same mistake again: mixing dairy with alcohol. Adding to the offense is the use of three different kinds of dairy: milk, cream, and eggs. Ick.
