Often one leak is pretty good clue the roof needs replacing not patching. If you don't get it after the second leak, you're too dumb to live, or a cheap ass of the first order.

I'm neutral on this; sometimes it could be the fault of the roofer or just something wrong with the roof itself. 

My dad is a roofer so I'm sure problems like these have happened to him.
