sure, you don't use them much, and they take up space, but hey. pennies make dollars. no sense in throwing them away.

No, keep them. Let my son collect them for the pocket money.

This issue seems as silly to me as the idea of switching to "half stars" and "zero stars" on RIA.  There will ALWAYS be a minimum denomination: once you get rid of the penny, the nickel will be the new "penny".  Is it really, honestly that difficult to deal with the concept of one hundredth of a dollar?

I guess if you want to come up with the exact change sometimes pennies are all right, but I personally think they're a nuicance.

As more and more people are using credit and debit cards to make even the smallest of purchases, the penny as a form of currency isn't really the problem. I don't think twice about dropping two or three pennies in the give a penny take a penny thing most stores have next to the register. The problem is the fact that it costs far more to produce a penny than it's worth. Maybe they should just make the things out of plastic.

Considering the state of the economy, they are presently about as important as dollar bills. . .

The only problem I really have with ditching pennies is that with most current plans to drop the penny, they aren't dropping individual cents, which means a store could say, charge  $0.51 cents  for a candy bar, but you'd have to give them $0.55, and lose $0.04. Now if individual cents were only used for higher level financial purposes, such as stocks and interest, I would be fine with eliminating the penny.
