def. Evolution (biological): change in the gene pool of a population from generation to generation
by such processes as mutation, natural selection, and genetic drift. It is truly mind-boggling that some do not understand simple concepts such as biological evolution. Better suited individuals tend to be more likely to have a chance to mate; Genes get passed down to the next generation; Genes carry on hopefully more favorable traits; Repeat. Do people really have a problem with the idea that genetic mutation occurs? Or that organisms can only pass on their traits if they survive long enough to? Or that genetic isolation can cause predominance of specific traits in an area? No. Those who truly have a "problem with evolution" are upset about the idea that the Earth is over 4000 years old. Go talk to the geologists, folks.
