Evolution certainly not only contradicts central, essential Christian teachings, it shows up such to be the utter nonsense that it is. Keep in mind (1) there is no way to definitely ascertain the purposes of the Divine, and (2) the existence of God cannot be irrefutably proven by empirical means. So, to suggest that evolution is part of "God's plan," is about the most mentally retarded notion imaginable. But, that doesn't stop the Biblethumping dullards from doing so, the twits.

Why not ditch it. Leave it the same place you checked your brain.

def. Evolution (biological): change in the gene pool of a population from generation to generation by such processes as mutation, natural selection, and genetic drift. It is truly mind-boggling that some do not understand simple concepts such as biological evolution. Better suited individuals tend to be more likely to have a chance to mate; Genes get passed down to the next generation; Genes carry on hopefully more favorable traits; Repeat. Do people really have a problem with the idea that genetic mutation occurs? Or that organisms can only pass on their traits if they survive long enough to? Or that genetic isolation can cause predominance of specific traits in an area? No. Those who truly have a "problem with evolution" are upset about the idea that the Earth is over 4000 years old. Go talk to the geologists, folks.

As we continue to evolve and change, it just gets funnier as people still find this an 'issue'. . .the science is there, kids- god wants you to have a brain, trust me. . .

What we really need to ditch is the idea that evolution contradicts Christianity. It doesn't take an expert to see evolution at work in the fossil record. Why can't evolution be part of God's plan? It has worked pretty well, and once you get the ball rolling it kind of takes care of itself. Sounds just like the sort of idea that an all-powerful and all-knowing God would come up with, doesn't it? I have similar opinions about the Big Bang as well.
