I know there are solid brown nut/ale beers out there, but many of them tend to be a little on the sweet side and that doesn't do much for me. . .but I wouldn't turn my nose up at a quality brown on occasion for purely scientific purposes. . .

A style on the maltier end of the spectrum, as opposed to the hoppier. A good brown is excellent, the lesser varieties can tend to muddiness.

God almighty! Is Newcastle smooth or what? To me, it tastes like baby jesus sliding down my throat in brown velvet pants!

I haven't met a Brown Ale that I haven't liked. Newcastle is one of my favorite beers, and Brooklyn Brewing Company makes a good Brown Ale as well.

If I had to choose one beer style as my favorite, it would probably be the brown ales. Newcastle, Brooklyn Brown, and Downtown Brown are three of my favorites. Great flavor, without the heaviness of a Stout or Porter.
