He didn't play well outside the Amen-corner. What made me lose all respet for him was his southern primary campaing with its not-so-subliminal message: "You don't want an evil Mormon in the White House do you? Now praise the Lord and vote for me!".

Too much of a bible beater...now he has a stupid tv show on Fox. Thank you, Political Gods (bastards).

It is a little known fact that Mike Huckabee and Gomer Pyle are the same person. Shazzam!!! Golly!!!! This guy ran a really imbecilic, unAmerican campaign, complete with the predictable attempt to demolish the separation of church and state. The sad story here is how he was one of the last dimwits to fold in that totally undistinguished GOP field. That's a political party (actually, it's a criminal conspiracy that tries to pass itself off as a political party) so bereft of talent that it's pathetic. Notice that now his campaign is over, Pvt. Pyle gained about 237 pounds, regaining a good deal of the disgusting goo that he temporarily shed in the past couple of years? I guess it just snacked up on him.

I LIKE MIKE! Voting for him whether he is on the ticket or not. They still allow write ins!

I 've mellowed towards Huckabee since he is no longer my governor. He ran a decent campaign and did not resort to sleazy attacks. He's a likable guy with a good sense of humor, but I see him more as a personality than a politician. He's on Fox now, which is probably a good place for him to be.

Ran a better campaign that anyone had a right to expect, despite having a fundraising arm that was the political equivalent of rattling an empty Starbucks cup outside the liquor store. Undone, ironically, by greater exposure. When most voters hadn't had a good look at Huckabee, he seemed like a possible alternative, but the higher his profile got, the more voters liked McCain.

His campaign was great until he started joking around too much like saying, "you heard me say it on the Colbert Report"

Huckabee wowed many people, including his critics because he ran a campaign on very little money. His campaign was based on principle and convictions. That's what helped him to succeed. He is also a very talented individual with excellent communication skills. He comes across as genuine. Mike Huckabee was not a quitter. He kept his word and finished the race as promised, standing up for his convictions and the people that shared the same values. Mike Huckabee is going down in history as one of the most influential and amazing candidates ever. I have a feeling we are going to see a lot more of Huckabee in the near future.

Huckabee added some fun to the campaign, and was instrumental in driving Romney out of the race.

I'll never figure out why people who claim to be concerned for "freedom" back candidates with the most repressive agendas, but perhaps the blame falls on SDS and the other naive leftists who - back in the '60s and '70s - lost sight of the fact that, although liberal politicians do betray us common folks on many issues, fascism is not a positive alternative.
That said, I must award the Huckabee campaign five stars for almost pulling off their dominionist "miracle".

Update: You have to hand it to Mike, he's run a solid campaign with really no money. canadasucks ignores the topic and rates with his usual and tiresome cheap shot at Christians. zzz... BTW, Mike needs over 80% of the delegates the rest of the way to get the nomination, thats not going to happen.2-3-08: Update: Huck says he'll stay in the race past Super Tuesday. He'll continue to steal delegates from Romney, thus helping McCain. Looks like McCain's running two campaigns. Like McCain, the use of class warfare/envy BS turned off economic minded conservatives like myself. Man...im happy he wasn't a p.o.w! Being an X-baptist minister would have ensured years of Bush like hatred if elected, I don't have the strength to endure more of that. Huck, take some left over campaign money and buy yourself a nice fishing pole, hell...toss in a dingy too.
Strijdom 02/10/2008
With no money, Huckabee's managed to run a very strong campaign. This man really loves this country, and shows this trait through and through.

Evangelicals are wrong on almost every issue foreign and domestic and watching Huck try to be nice and friendly (as if we're going to get fooled by another gay-for-christ-fundie like dubs) hasn't fooled many people outside of Iowa trailer parks. Sorry, the leader of the free world should probably (even if silently) believe in evolution.
abichara 02/02/2008
Huckabee put forth a decent effort, but in the final analysis, his campaign was, or will be doomed by two factors: one, his appeal is very limited to evangelical voters, whom by themselves, are not enough to win the Republican nomination. He will do well in the South, but with Romney spliting the conservative vote, I don't foresee that he will win too many states. Secondly, he doesn't have the cash to advertise in big states like California or New York. Factor one though is the big one, McCain doesn't have a lot of money, yet by all counts, he's the frontrunner. He's a polished speaker, but a silver tongue alone doesn't win elections.

The Huckabee campaign did a great job in Iowa and thrust the candidate into the spotlight. Unfortunately for Huckabee I don't think they looked very far past Iowa and the sudden success really wasn't handled that well. He did do better later on thanks to the Iowa surge, but was never considered more than the third or fourth choice. There is also the fact that he caught the attention of people like myself long enough to take a closer look. Once we did, we didn't care much for what we saw. A little better planning, and of course more money, would have been helpful.
Loerke 01/31/2008
The Huckabee campaign was run with chilling effectiveness (and very little money) by old GOP sty-sweeper Ed Rollins. The campaign has ground to a halt, but the possibility that another strategist will use Rollins's ideas to generate more lasting momentum in the future, elevating a minister to major office, is frightening indeed.
Sundiszno 01/31/2008
Huckabee comes across to me as being the most honest and sincere of all of the candidates, Republican or Democrat. Given a chance to speak, he's much more articulate that his "Ole Boy" image would lead you to expect. I think he has a fundamental grasop of the issues and, if elected (although it's highly unlikely he'll even be the Republican nominee), I believe that he'd tackle some of our major problems with common sense, enthusiasm, and perseverance. Too bad he didn't have "brand name recognition" going into the race.

Very good for an unknown X Baptist preacher. Liberals and the homos won't go for him though. He may be the best choice for a believer in Christ.
GenghisTheHun 01/30/2008
This guy is someone you like right off the bat. Too bad he has such goofy planks in his platform.
