All of those people could seek help elsewhere and surely they are not required to put their rehab experiences on television for all to see. They make a choice to be on the show. It's not like they aren't aware of the cameras or the purpose behind the filming. That being said, I think Dr. Drew is an awesome person for wanting to help people and allow everyone to witness the therapeutic process. I have learned a lot by watching his shows/listening to the way he interacts with his clients. He is objective and nonjudgmental and comes across as a genuine healer. WE LOVE DR. DREW!!!!!!

I have a younger half-sister who spent 6 months in re-hab, and I couldn't help but compare the luxurious semi-tropical resort where the D-listers (I was aware of who Conaway and Brigitte Nielsen were, and the female wrestler, but that was about it) from "Celebrity Rehab" did their "recovery" to the grim facility located in a grimy, industrial section of NJ, where my half-sister did hers. I don't know enough about "Dr. Drew" to make a determination as to whether he's a sincere helper or a hustler-- probably a bit of the former and a lot of the latter. Still, if an exploitative reality-TV show can provide genuine help to a doped-out zombie like Conaway even while exploiting his disease in the interest of ratings, I guess that has to count for something.

 | acurleegirlee (15) 06/02/2008 | I watched Celebrity Rehab and thought it was a mediocre reality show. As someone who watched A LOT of reality tv, this one didn't really grab my attention as much as some others. The "celebrities" were D-listed, at best, and really the time they spent in rehab, was definitely not long enough for the majority of them. It was interesting and enlightening to see what happens when patients enter rehab and go through withdrawal, but still I don't think it was completely realistic.

 | TeresaG (31) 03/22/2008 | I knw that I had already reviewed this show ~ but here goes..again! I really loved this show and got into it. Very different than most of the "celebrity" shows. This is one that you don't WANT to be on ~ no prizes, no money, just the chance at some help. Zuchinibut pretty much described the show, but I think that by having "Celebrities" on there, more people watch ~ otherwise, it would be that show Intervention. I don't know if it would be possible to have another season, but more than likely, this show was a one series wonder.

 | zuchinibut (46) 01/29/2008 | Celebrity Rehab is a pretty good show. Most of the "Celeb-reality" crap VH1 spews out is awful, but this is an intriguing show. It features the same C-list talent that other VH1 celebrity shows have had, but it isn't the fact that these people were once famous that makes this show great. It is the glimpse into their stories of addiction that is amazing. Addiction is a terrible issue, but people who are fighting it always have amazing, sometimes horrifying, stories to tell. This show shares those stories, while watching Dr. Drew and his staff help these people try to regain control of their lives. This show would probably be just as interesting to me if it didn't include celebrities, but it works either way.
