It held about a pint and a half of red ink, with a screw on spout, and teachers used it to correct your papers in the good old days or to mark you absent in attendance books. They marked you present with black ink but tardy or absent with red ink!
I still have the bottle and it is about half full and has never dried out which is a good advertisement for Sanford's. The problem is that company has been gone now about thirty years or so.
Cardinal Red is darker than just plain red.
