This has varying degrees of annoyance, I've just noticed it happening a lot lately. This sometimes stems from people who make assumptions about your opinion when it's clear the problem is with them.
A friend of mine bugged the living daylights out of me not long ago about going to a fish house across the state line. To make a long story short, he told me he overslept and that's why he didn't answer the door when I came by. Funny thing is, I had already been by his house earlier that day and he wasn't home, I saw his vehicle at Sonic. Turns out he decided to go to a bar later with another friend of his. That's fine, but just say so, don't lie about it and say something that obviously isn't true.
