If anyone (on the men's side) belongs in the same class as Borg, it is this man. Federer is phenomenal. He has done it. Federer just won the French Open. I think we can now safely refer to him as the best ever. After the best Wimbledon final I've ever seen....a new record stands. Good job, Mr. Federer. Quite an inspiration.

Today, after winning his first Roland Garros Tournament, Roger has become the best tennis player of all time. Though he is not my favorite one, I must say that he is the one. He's the god of tennis.

Well, I've been following tennis for good 30 years now, there has never been a player like Roger. I'm not talking about his wonderful personality and the fact that he is liked by millions, I'm talking skills, footwork, mental toughness, magic shots ... phenomenal. To me there is a huge gap between Roger and second best player of all time, whom I'd be hard pressed to pick.

This is probably one of the easiest ratings I've ever had to give.  I don't like tennis that much but Federer is probably the best tennis player of all-time.  More importantly, the most popular Swiss person since the 'Swiss Miss Girl.'  or Swiss product since 'Lindt.'

By far the most complete player of all time. Has no weakness. The problem he has is Nadal (one of the best player on Clay) is in his way. I love Federer, but if you have a losing record again your rival, it's hard to rate him as the GOAT. Federer has to beat Nadal at least 1 or 2 more times in a major championship to close the argument.

Perhaps, he is the greatest ever. Although, Borg has more charisma, Sampras more Grand Slam titles, and Laver's two completed Grand Slams make him transcendently unique; however, Roger's versatile and beautiful play, his incredible ability to gather himself in the decisive moments makes one fully justified to offer a supposition of his being the greatest ever. Even if Borg is my favorite, still.

Roger is considered to be the best player of all time. From following the sport for over 30 years, i share that opinion. However many people, including other tennis players base this on his style, his temperament, his shot making ability. Roger is like the creation of what everyone would consider to be the ultimate player. He is the best player to watch ever, that's why everyone is still in awe. We have all forgotten Sampras in a hurry, but i am of the opinion that if they existed in the same era, Sampras would come out on top, especially on grass. People also forget that other greats Borg, McEnroe, Connors all existed in the same/similar eras. What else would they have won without each other around. Nadal is Federer's nemesis, but on Clay only. Otherwise he has been peerless. I disagree with comments made about the standard. There is much more depth than ever, but nobody close to the top two. Take them out of it then all would be a lot less predictable in the top 100.Lets not forget ... Read more

Federer is the king of tennis. He is a one man army, an unbeatable, unvincible force which can throw out any tennis player of ATP & WTA combined. No Henin, No Sharapova, No Roddick can stop him. If anyday he will lose it will be a lucky day of Nadal. Billie Jean King beated Tommy Riggs but you know what Roger can be an answer to all WTA players combined.

Roger is the best tennis player to ever play the game. No one before has ever showed the kind of shot-making ability on a consistent basis like him. When he first hit his peak (2004-2005) you literally heard oohs and aahs from the stands throughout his matches. Who else in tennis has every done that.

I hate to say it but besides Nadal there is a huge drop off in talent in the men's top ten...3-10 looks like what 25-35 used to look like. There is a huge loss of quality players in mens tennis right now.

Obviously the best player ever 7 straight grand slam finals and he will break Connors record for most consecutive weeks at No. 1 (which most considered unbreakable). he will also break Sampras record for most grand slam wins soon as well. It's really no competition, he is easily the best that has ever played. he is a machine.

Federer is just an unbelievable tennis player. He certainly has the potential to become the best ever. Unlike Sampras, who also was a remarkeable good tennisplayer, Fedrer is a very good clay court player and has the game to win rolan garros. Besides that Federer also has a very good chance of surpassing Sampras record og 14 gran slams, winning 8 gs in just 3 years. He's also soon within reach of Agassis record of 17 master titels at a age of just 25. So Roger Federer gets my vote for sure :)

Difficult to compare eras in all sports. Little doubt that Federer is a great player; John McEnroe said that even at his best, he could not have lived with Federer, though at this stage, he rates Pete Sampras slightly the better of the two - mainly because of Sampras's overall record. I was a great Rod Laver fan. I often wonder how Federer would have fared against the "Rockhampton Rocket", who is still the only man to twice win all four grand slam titles in the same year.

Its difficult to say who is the best player ever, Why? The era if different, the olds, told you (Emerson, Laver) the new era said (Connors, McEnroe, Borg, lendl, Agassi, Sampras) an at time (2006) Federer, Nadal. To me who makes the different in the records were Federer.

I just recently found this site and it's nice to see the reviews of this guy dating back a few years. Roger is simply the best I've ever seen! As a former teaching professional, I coached players to more than 100 state, sectional and national titles including a college national championship. I recall telling my former students that some day you will see a player with no weaknesses. Federer is that player. Even before he won his first major, I believed he was the smoothest player I have ever seen. Something you will almost immediately notice when you watch him play is that he doesn't make a sound. Although, as a player, you want ot exhale executing a stroke, you do not need to use your vocal cords. Federer's ability to adapt to a situation and change variables of the ball, as well as his stroke production and shot selection make him the best. When you watch him play, he uses his slice backhand perfectly. On wide shots, using the slice backhand will keep him from giving up too m... Read more

Just Facts! Compare Federer's record with anyone else, ever. IM A HENMAN FAN. 3 straight Wimbledons, 2 US Opens, 2 Australian Opens, Semi-final at the French (4 sets, more than Sampras could say), 3 straight Masters Cup finals, 8 Masters Cups, 23 Hard Court Titles, 5 Grass, and 6 Clays. Beat Agassi at the USOpen (6-time finalist), Sampras (7-Time Champion) there, Coria (15-time clay court finalist), Nadal (9-time clay court champ), and Safin (4-time Grand Slam finalist and 25-time singles champion.) IM A HENMAN FAN.

He embodies every quality required to be the all-time greatest tennis player, and that is exactly what he is. He is unbelievably intelligent and quick, strong and powerful, and his tennis game is complete in all aspects. When he is on the court, every point is magnificent, yet played with such unparalleled grace and ease. And, from a girl's perspective, he's not only the best tennis player of all-time, but the hottest as well!

The more I watch him, the more I'm convinced he is not from this planet. A 71-3 record this season, and of those two statistics, the 3 is the most shocking to me simply because I have yet to see him lose a match.

Magnificent talent and shot-making skills. On the court, he's dynamic, intelligent and a gentleman. A modern tennis anomoly - he doesn't rely solely on power and aggressive tactics.
